NORFOLK, Neb. — A brand new cafe-style restaurant is now open in downtown Norfolk.
Fenders officially opened its doors last week and so far the community has received a tremendous response, management said.
Manager Micah Milligan said she has seen a great reaction from the public since the opening.
“They’re doing great,” Milligan said. “We have been very busy. I think everyone in the community is really excited to have a new coffee experience. Everyone was really excited to try it.
If you only eat gluten-free foods, you’re in luck.
“The food is really good,” she says. “Everything is gluten-free. We’re bringing out baked goods from Omaha’s ‘Bella Bread’. We actually sold it. So we’ll be restocking that tomorrow.
The cafe will also serve different types of cocktails.
“We have a very nice cocktail menu,” she said. “We’re going to be incorporating fresh herbs, fresh fruit, fresh flowers in our cocktails, so that’s really exciting.
With some places not just in Nebraska, but also across the United States, still struggling to find quality staff, Milligan said they haven’t had that problem.
“I was a little nervous about finding employees,” she said. “Because everyone struggles to find staff, but honestly I think we’ve just brought in some really great people. My staff so far have been just amazing.”
Fenders is owned by the same people who also own the 411 Restaurant and Lounge which is also downtown.
Milligan said the cafe had a lot of European influences in its design.
“We want more of a café with a terrace and a bit of European experience,” she added. “We really focus on the quality of the coffee.”
If you want to try it, it’s located at 426 W Norfolk Ave. in downtown Norfolk.
