Casa Linda Bakery Owner Adds Cafe Menu to Frisco

Custom Cakes (various prices): Cakes are made for various events, including weddings and birthdays.

Jea Shim knew of the success of Casa Linda Bakery before he became the owner of the business. Shim owned a flea market near the first bakery location in Dallas. One day he noticed a queue at the bakery door and decided to enter. He met the owner, who was looking to sell the business.

So 12 years ago, Shim bought Casa Linda Bakery. The bakery has attracted people from all over the area, including the northern suburbs.

“We’ve had a lot of people come into our store and say, ‘We’re driving all the way to Dallas to pick up your stuff. If you ever decide to expand, head north, ”said Kathy, the daughter of Shim, who helps run Casa Linda.

Shim opened Casa Linda’s Frisco site two years ago. He expanded the concept at the Frisco location to include a cafe menu in addition to the bakery.

Shim worked as a chef for 28 years. When deciding what to include on Casa Linda’s cafe menu, he polled his customers to ask them what they liked.

Casa Linda’s home-style cafe menu includes breakfast, lunch and dinner options. Some of the most popular dishes on the menu are sandwiches, salads, and wraps. The restaurant also serves burgers, pasta, flatbreads and soups. Breakfast options are served throughout the day.

“It’s kind of like home because I see how he prepares the food, and I feel like it’s something you can do at home,” said Kathy.

The restaurant also serves the original baked goods from the Dallas store. Most baked goods are made at the Dallas store, with the exception of cookies, which are baked on-site at the Frisco store.

The bakery is known for its bespoke cakes for all occasions, including weddings, birthdays and showers.

Shim said many people don’t realize that Casa Linda now includes a restaurant on its Frisco site.

“[Some customers] only know the bakery, but we have the food, ”Shim said. “They never complain. They love my food.
