Chinese Street Market pop-up in former Cafe Cozy Corner space

1117 10th Street, NW

Thanks to Emily and Jared for sending: “Looks like a Chinese street market [“The local Chinese Street Market brings you pop-up vendors rotated from our market program. It is designed to satisfy your authentic food craving.“] will open in the former Cafe Cozy Corner space on 10th and MNW.”

“Devastated by the closure of the Cafe Cozy corner but this sign really intrigues me”

The Chinese Street Market website says:

“The Chinese Street Market DC community is a place to share your nostalgic food memories or pursue your cultural passion. We strive to serve as trusted connectors for food and culture, breaking down language barriers for greater cultural understanding.

The DC region is rich with a multi-generational East Asian diaspora, and beginning with Chinese subcultures, we strive to introduce all East Asian food makers to an audience wider. Our goal is to help tell their stories in the context of their multi-generational traditions and traditional recipes. We do this by showcasing their stories on our online and offline platform through popups and events.

The first street market, held in September 2019, was a special event that drew over 3,000 visitors to downtown DC in a single afternoon. In 2021, Chinese Street Market DC was voted by the Washington City Paper’s Best of DC poll as the best dining at home finalist, second only to a Michelin-rated restaurant. Today, you can enjoy this unique cultural experience by joining our community online or through our in-person popups at local farmers markets and at special events. Ready-to-cook packaged goods often incorporate produce from our fellow Farmer’s Market vendors, allowing CSMDC to root Diaspora food stories in freshness, sustainability, and the mid-Atlantic food system. Join us to learn, connect, share and preserve this cultural experience and community. »

You can currently find them at various farmers markets as well as Union Station. Stay tuned for an opening date here.
