Closure of Grand Lux Cafe King of Prussia, PA Mall location

A major restaurant in the King of Prussia Mall will permanently close early next year, reports the Philadelphia Business Journal.

The Grand Lux Cafe – a restaurant operated by the Cheesecake Factory Inc. – had been open inside the mall for more than six years, they report. It will apparently close on January 31.

The Grand Lux Cafe at the Cherry Hill Mall in Cherry Hill, NJ also closed during the pandemic.

The Cheesecake Factory Incorporated operates 220 full-service restaurants across the country. These restaurants include 206 Cheesecake Factory restaurants and approximately 13 Grand Lux cafes.

A cheesecake factory is currently open inside the Kind of Prussia mall, and from our experience it is quite busy there. We have no information regarding a possible closure of this restaurant.

The Grand Lux Cafe was originally designed as an upscale restaurant for The Venetian hotel and casino in Las Vegas. Grand Lux cafes are open in Florida, Georgia, Nevada, New Jersey, New York and Texas.

The King of Prussia site was the only chain restaurant open in the state of Pennsylvania, according to their website. A Grand Lux cafe appears to remain open at Garden State Plaza in Paramus, NJ, according to the chain’s website.

The King of Prussia Mall, owned and operated by Simon Properties, is the largest retail space in the United States. Throughout the pandemic, retailers inside the mall had struggled a bit – including Lord & Taylor, which closed on February 27, 2021.

Restaurants that currently remain open on the mall property include Bonefish Grill, Buffalo Wild Wings, Maggianos, California Pizza Kitchen, and more.
