Community Cafe Sees Increase in Visits – Pagosa Daily Post News Events & Video for Pagosa Springs Colorado

0

It was great to see everyone who recently ventured into the Pagosa Senior Center. We really enjoyed walking into the dining room and talking with people to find out what they have been up to for the past few years since we were partially closed. The most common comments we’ve received are a big “thank you” for continuous home delivery meals and well checking phone calls. Grab-N-Go meals are still going strong and we’re thrilled about it.

Although we have a busy month of August and it is also hot, it is nice to see so many of you during the lunch period. Our number has increased in the dining hall and we are happy that more of you have taken the time to eat in the centre. Please be patient with us as we try to offer more services and increase our on-site dining at Community Cafe.

The Community Cafe continues to be open to the public every Monday and Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. If you are dining there, be prepared to show your vaccination record. (If you have COVID-19 or have been exposed or are showing symptoms, please stay home.) We are still offering take-out meals Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at our convenient Drive Thru. Our meals are available for all ages by reservation, call or text us at 970-264-2167 before 9am.

SENIOR DISCOUNTS
Senior discounts are one of the perks that come with crossing the half-century mark. Many retailers, restaurants, hotels, transportation companies and insurance companies cater to seniors by offering reduced prices on everything from the food they eat to the clothes they wear.

From a marketing point of view, it makes perfect sense. After all, as a group, older people have enormous purchasing power. According to an AARP analysis on HuffPost, adults ages 50 and older are the largest and fastest growing consumer group in the country, spending $3.2 trillion each year. That’s more than the total gross domestic product of countries like Italy, France, Russia and the UK. Savvy marketers know that the best senior discounts can turn seniors into loyal customers and pay huge dividends.

Your senior status can certainly be an economic advantage. However, although senior discounts are generally available, they are not always clearly advertised. The best strategy is to always ask. Many clerks are reluctant to apply an age discount for fear of offending customers, but it’s worth talking up and seeing if you can save a few bucks.

Your friendly Pagosa Springs Seniors Center also offers a $10.00 discount card for community members ages 55 and older. You can contact Barbara Noriega at our office to obtain your membership card. Just show your 2022 membership card to get countless discounts in Archuleta County! We will provide you with a full list of discounts with your membership card. The cards are renewable from January of each year. If you are a business or organization interested in joining our Senior Discount Club, please contact us to be included.
