Westborough’s flagship location in Scarborough town center reopened today, Tuesday June 14, with a new look and feel for the brand, which has been based in Scarborough for 135 years.
As part of the changes, the Westborough store now has a seating area, following successful trials of their new format stores with seating.
Caroline Jones, Marketing Director, said: “Our new look adapts our offering to changing customer needs, with seating inside the store for customers to stay for lunch or coffee.
“Our heritage in Scarborough is absolutely central to our brand, and the changes we’ve made to the design concept in Westborough are inspired by design that has played a role in our history, but with a modern new twist.”
Customers will also be able to enjoy comfortable seating and an extensive range of hot meals, as well as their usual Cooplands favorites such as freshly made sandwiches, pastries, cream cakes as well as hot sandwiches, toasts and cooked breakfasts.
As part of these changes, Westborough has also upgraded its hot beverages with a new coffee offering featuring 100% Fair Trade Arabica coffee beans.
The store also applied for a sidewalk license.
As part of the application, the store requested two outdoor tables with eight chairs between them.
The seating area will be at the front of the store and will be for serving food and beverages.
Secret Garden Café employees have been retained within the company and the former café space is now a staff area.
The Orchard Café above the Heron store at the corner of St. Thomas Street and Newborough Road will remain open.
