A DARLINGTON businesswoman prepares to launch her business after gaining approval at a Darlington Borough Council planning meeting in October 2021.
Shalona Beaumont will open MJ’s Cake Cafe at 15 Station Terrace in Middleton St George on Saturday 28th May.
The shop and cafe will open from 8 a.m. and Shalona plans to stay open until around 6 p.m., or until it sells out.
There will be plenty of kids’ activities to keep the little ones entertained, including face painting and balloon modeling.
15 Station Terrace was a rundown building until Shalona decided it would be the perfect location for her business.

Shalona said: “To be honest, I can’t believe this is finally happening. The last few months have been difficult to organize everything, but we only have one last push now and I can’t wait to get going. finally open.
“The building took so much work, it was really a mess at first, but it looks pretty good now. It just needs a few finishing touches.
“It’s me, me and me doing all the baking, but I also have baristas now, so it won’t just be me, and a chef who will start soon.
“We are opening this Saturday because the kids are splitting up the previous Friday so I thought the parents could do something to keep the kids entertained.”
