New Puerto Rican Floral Shop + Cafe Opens in Jersey City

A new business has sprung up in Jersey City with a dual specialty – a flower shop and a coffee shop with its cutting-edge florist services. Flor Y Cafe held its grand opening on Sunday, March 13 at 413 Central Avenue. “Freshly cut flowers and freshly brewed Puerto Rican artisan coffee” is the cafe’s motto. The boutique’s florists service Hudson and Bergen County. He prides himself on his unique floral designs, custom floral arrangements, and personalized flower delivery. The chief designer has over 50 years of experience. Customers have ordered bouquets for all occasions ranging from birthdays to get-well gestures.

Flor Y Cafe offers a “Flowers of the Week” subscription – a weekly, bi-weekly or monthly plan. Each week, the designer will curate new, fresh seasonal flowers, bouquets and arrangements along with helpful tips on care and styling. Arrangements will then be delivered the same day in Jersey City, and delivered the next day if located in other areas.

As for the other half of the store, the coffee comes from family farms located in the Jayuya mountains in Puerto Rico, more than 2,000 feet above sea level, according to the website. “Here, the coffee grows in ideal climatic conditions to produce high-quality coffee. These farms also use a meticulous process of carefully selecting only ripe beans, washed, then sun-dried and finally roasted to perfection.

We know of three beers the shop offers – Cafe Hacienda Prosperidad, Cafe Hayuya, Cafe Nativo.
