#NewInTown: DiGhent Cafe brings European flavors to your palate

After nearly two years of inactivity due to the COVID pandemic, the Indian restaurant scene is now in full swing. Established restaurants are opening new outlets, while other restaurants are exploring cloud cooking and delivery-only models. Amid this new buzz in the industry, a new cafe caught our eye for its food and mission. DiGhent Cafe is the latest addition to the bustling Khan Market locality in Delhi. Located right in the heart of the capital, this is DiGhent’s second outpost following its previous success in Gurgaon’s DLF Phase 4.

At first glance, DiGhent exudes a calm and comforting vibe. Wooden interiors are minimalist and soothing, complemented by plenty of natural light and plants. Shelves adorn either side of the huge bay windows and the strong scent of fresh food puts us instantly at ease. While European cuisine is DiGhent Cafe’s forte, a quick scan of their menu will reveal options that most Indian diners are comfortable with. So whether you visit for breakfast or lunch, dinner or even brunch, rest assured that you will find a wide variety of choices.

The founder, Bal DiGhent, explained that each name on the menu has a story related to his work and his visits abroad. Additionally, DiGhent Cafe uses freshly baked breads and sauces in its menu, sourcing local ingredients to make the dishes even more exquisite!

We started our meal with the signature Love Krikri from the Salads section. The mixed lettuce salad was topped with orange segments, pomegranate, crumbled goat cheese and almond flakes. The Agrodolce dressing lifted the bitterness of the lettuce leaves and the texture of the salad was extremely well thought out. Next, we sampled the highly recommended Lakenhalle which was Al Dente Whole Wheat Spaghetti in Tomato Sauce with Garlic, Basil, Parmesan and Black Olives. The dish was balanced between creamy and tangy, and it also came with a sourdough garlic baguette, prepared in-house by DiGhent.

From the sector, we tried the signature Miss Leuw which is a platter consisting of grilled cottage cheese, three pepper couscous, sautéed grilled vegetables served with barbecue sauce. Again, the textures of all the items complemented each other perfectly and the sauce was exceptionally delicious. We got it right from the start!

As for desserts, once again, we were spoiled for choice. We decided to try the classic shine Waffles topped with Belgian chocolate, maple syrup, butter and almonds. the Kruizen or the Baked New York Cheesecake was next on our list, which came with a salted caramel sauce. Both sweets were heavenly and a must!

At the end of the meal, we received a small sum to contribute to the charity of our choice or help DiGhent Cafe’s mission to work for the underprivileged section of society. Dinner with a mission!

So become part of the DiGhent community and do your part while enjoying delicious European treats.
