NZ brand FMCG Barkers opens grocery store and Cafe Eatery in Melbourne

Barker’s has opened its first ever Foodstore and Eatery cafe in Melbourne. The New Zealand label FMCG is well known for its jams, chutneys, sauces and fruit compotes.

Based under its headquarters in Victoria, the company says Foodstore and Eatery aims to introduce the quality and flavor of New Zealand to the local community through “simple but delicious” meals.

Launched in 2019, the brand’s first retail store in Geraldine, Queenstown, was originally designed to commemorate its 50th anniversary and has now become a tourist destination in the small town. According to the company, its success inspired the vision for a store in Melbourne to create greater brand awareness in Australia.

The Melbourne store offers an on-site and take-out cafe that will serve breakfast and lunch items, sandwiches, pastries and cakes.

In addition, it also serves as a retail store where customers can purchase a wide range of products including Meal Sauces, 1kg Compotes, Super Fruit Crushes, Immunity Gels, Immunity Shots and classic syrups.

“Our goal is to introduce our products to customers and visitors by incorporating them into our restaurant menu and showing them how they can use them at home or in their hospitality business,” says Nicky Donker, Commercial Director of Barker’s .
