When one door closes, another opens, as they say, and so does the hospitality industry.
Earlier this month, Dished announced that Bobacabana – a New West cafe offering smoothies, fruit and milk teas – would close. This announcement also came with the news that new management would be taking over the store with a whole new branding, new space and new menu.
This new concept is called Passenger, a “take-out stop for pastries, boba, smoothies and bites,” according to the Instagram page.
The Passenger is a sister location to Earthling Cafe, a gluten-free cafe specializing in dacquoise made from rice flour.
Management tells Dished that with Passenger they’re “essentially extending [Bobacabana] in a cafe, desserts and pastry showcasing our baked goods from [Earthling] and also produce for our friends at the farmers markets.
The passenger will not be strictly vegan or gluten-free, but will instead offer a mix of traditional and vegan/gluten-free pastries. It will also offer drinks, smoothies, salads and sandwiches, with croissants and the brand’s signature dacquoise also on the menu.
The new cafe is in its soft-open phase until tomorrow, August 31, with free drip coffee between 8 a.m. and noon.
The passenger inauguration will take place on Thursday, September 1.
