One of downtown’s most beloved live music entertainers is back for an encore. The Ringside Café closed in late January at its former home on North 2nd Street, and now the beloved business is set to open in a new location just around the corner.
The new bar and performing arts venue headquarters will be at 350 1st Avenue North across from Williams Park. Sharp-eyed passers-by over the weekend may have noticed the Ringside Café sign mounted in the window, yet another indication that the hub for music and drinks will soon be open. The company hasn’t officially announced a specific opening date, but said on Facebook “We’ll be up and running before you know it!!”
In a comment to that post, Ringside Café said opening night could take place on July 29, “if all the stars line up properly.” If that’s indeed the case, the jaw-dropping shows could be back this month. Of course, with any business opening in St. Pete, clearance will ultimately determine when Ringside can officially return.
Ringside left its location at 16 2nd Street North when its previous lease ended in January. When breaking the news, Ringside said they weren’t given the chance to renew their lease, which they said they were “taken aback”. Good Night John Boy, a 70s-themed nightclub opened by an Ohio-based company, is set to open in the space later this year.
