Virginia just got its own Foxtrot market and its own cafe


Foxtrot Market, the bustling all-day convenience store and cafe with a delivery app carrying everything from CBD seltzers to hummus, just planted its flag in Virginia with a new outpost opening today in Old Town Virginia. Alexandria.

The one-stop shop (701 King Street) stocks a wide variety of on-the-go items, with a particular focus on products sourced directly from DC and surrounding makers, ranging from Alexandria’s own Port City Brewing to Dolcezza Gelato to That’s Taysty’s oversized cookies.

“From department stores to craft breweries to farmers markets, it just felt natural and we’re excited to join the neighborhood,” co-founder Mike LaVitola said of choosing Alexandria of Foxtrot’s first Virginia outlet.

The Alexandria location is also rolling out a springtime cafe menu, including an Elote Caesar bowl with roasted corn, cotija and masa croutons, as well as burrata toast with toasted sourdough and caramelized shallots.

Foxtrot’s selection of coffees includes a new Cherry Blossom signature latte made with homemade cherry syrup from a blend of rose, beet and cherry, as well as an espresso from Vigilante Coffee Company, capitalizing on the DC area cherry blossom craze.

The cafe’s menu is available for take-out and eat-in, with seating available on the store’s two-story mezzanine. Several on-site beverage taps hold an extensive selection of craft beers and wines, chosen by in-house sommelier Dylan Melvin. Local picks include Port City Brewing, Other Half Brewing, and Solace Brewing. For takeout bottles, grouped options sort wines by female ownership, black ownership, best sellers and more.

After raising $17 million in early 2020, the brand banked on its app-based delivery platform during the pandemic and planted a pair of DC locations in Georgetown and Mt. Vernon Triangle.

Today’s March 3 opening also marks one year since Foxtrot opened its first DC location in Georgetown on Wisconsin Avenue. In the short time since, Foxtrot has expanded to two more locations in the Dupont Circle and Mount Vernon Triangle district.

Foxtrot celebrates its grand opening with daily specials until the end of the week. The first 500 shoppers on opening day receive a branded tote bag filled with candy. On Fridays, those who pay with the Foxtrot app can enjoy half the wine selection all day, and on Saturdays, anyone who pays with the app between noon and 2 p.m. gets $2 off n’ any coffee or takeaway item. .

The opening of the Old Town location marks the 18th store in the multi-city franchise between the DC, Chicago and Dallas area.

Regular store hours are Monday through Sunday, 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
